Function and needs Internal semiconductive layer

To eliminate electrical tracking and arching discharges, it needs: A good thermal stability (conductor temperature can reach 90C) A good adhesion to the conductor and insulation layer An extremely homogeneous dispersion of the carbon filler (~40%) An easy processing (thin layer is required) To be cross-linked and extruded at low temperature 130-140C To prevent electrical breakdown, it needs: To eliminate water-treeing which results in insulation failure of the cable To improve environmental stress cracking resistance

Low Voltage: < 1 Kv (e.g. 22.6 Kv)

Medium Voltage: 1 Kv ~ 33 Kv (e.g. 22.6 Kv)

High Voltage: 66 Kv ~ 132 Kv

Extra-High Voltage: > 132 Kv

~ 35 % carbon-black Cross-linked Evatane 33-15, 33-25 or 33-45

~35% carbon black Cross-linked Lotryl 17 BA 07 or 17 BA 04 for its high polarity, good thermal stability and fluidity Lotader 3210 (2030% in dilution with Lotryl) in order to increase adhesion with conductor

40% carbon-black Cross linked Lotryl 17 BA 07 or 17 BA 04 for its high polarity, good thermal stability and fluidity. Lotader 3210 (2030% in dilution with Lotryl) in order to increase adhesion with conductor

Insulation layer

Cross-linked LLDPE, LDPE 10-20% super clean Lotryl 17 BA 04 added to increase water-treeing resistance

Cross-linked LLDPE, LDPE 10-20% super-clean Lotryl 17 BA 04 added to increase water-treeing resistance

Cross-linked LLDPE, LDPE 15-20% super-clean Lotryl 17 BA 04 added to increase watertreeing resistance

External semiconductive layer

To provide electrical protection, it needs : A good peel-ability at the interface with the insulation layer

~35% carbon black Cross-linked Evatane 33-15, 33-25 or 33-45

40% carbon-black Cross-linked Lotryl 17BA 07 or 17 BA 04 for its high polarity, good thermal stability and fluidity

HFFR insulation Layer

To provide a flame retardant protection to the cable.

They are based on blends of Evatane or Lotryl polymers containing high amount of mineral fillers ATH or MDH which are efficiently coupled to the polymers with either an appropriate Lotader or an Orevac.
