Comments: Cameron brought to our classroom a solid knowledge base of the content areas. He is up to date on current research and is adept at knowing where to gather any information he needs.

Comments: Cameron is a well-rounded individual who is involved in a variety of activities outside the school that he can incorporate in his lessons. When talking about electricity and circuits, he shared information he has learned in his interest in motorcycles and engines. Another time he shared a video and information on the giant squid that was in the news. At varying times he would bring real world applications to our classroom.

B. INSTRUCTIONAL COMPETENCE Communication skills. P - Proficient - Level P - Communicates what is to be learned so that students understand and value the learning. P - Demonstrates effective speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. P - Uses appropriate and grammatically correct language. P - Has congruent verbal and nonverbal communication. Comments: Cameron is enthusiastic, warm, and sincere. He effectively demonstrated verbal and nonverbal communication skills. With a glance, a pause in his speech, or emphasizing key words he would capture the students' attention. Communications skills are a huge

strength that Cameron has!

Management of students' behavior. P - Proficient - Level P - Controls classroom behavior in an effective and fair manner. P - Organizes and manages classroom to maximize learning. P - Establishes and carries out effective classroom rules, procedures and routines. P - Provides a positive learning environment. P - Encourages individual responsibility. P - Respects individual rights. Comments: From the start, Cameron established a positive, respectful role in our classroom. Often he would walk over to a child's desk and bend down to quietly speak to a child.

Management of learning progress. P - Proficient - Level P - Manages learning progress so that the curriculum is covered appropriately and efficiently. P - Makes smooth transitions and is able to handle varying ability levels and activities. P - Manages assignments and time efficiently. P - Ensures quality time on learning tasks and accomplishes what has to be done. P - Demonstrates knowledge about instructional management resources. P - Uses high expectations for optimal achievement. Comments: With the numerous "snow days" and interruptions in our schedule, Cameron has a lot of practice in managing our students' learning process. He has shown that he can handle varying ability levels giving extra support to those needing it and also monitoring others in their independent work.

P - Reasonably and responsibly copes with the frequent contingencies and occasional emergencies of classroom teaching. Comments: Thankfully, we have not had any major emergencies! Cameron was knowledgeable of all building policies and plans in case of an emergency. During all practice drills he knew what to do and kept the students quiet and calm.

Comments: Cameron planned effective lesson plans and units using many different techniques and strategies from a growing toolkit he is acquiring. He planned his lessons with an awareness of where accommodations needed to be made.

P - Creates meaningful learning experiences that help all students understand the subject matter based on each student's abilities, attitudes, effort, culture, and achievement. Comments: Cameron's enthusiasm for teaching came through in his lessons. He was excited about what he was teaching and wanted the students to "catch the fever". He used whole group, small group, pair shares, jigsaws, etc to help students understand the subject matter.

Comments: Cameron used a variety of materials and resources to his lessons. He came to our classroom with a wide knowledge of computers, data projectors, data cameras, You Tube, United Streaming, power points, etc.

Comments: Cameron has worked throughout the past 8 weeks planning a variety of informal and formal pre and post assessments. He has created tests and study guides. He has scored students' writings using a rubric.

Grading and reporting student achievement. P - Proficient - Level P - Understands and appreciates and grading/ranking/scoring process and how to report achievement. P - Grades and reports fairly, honestly, clearly, consistently, efficiently, and helpfully. I - Uses technology to organize, manage, evaluate and communicate information about student performance. Comments: Cameron understood and consistently graded fairly.

Comments: Cameron would monitor and assess often and make adjustments in his teaching. He was able to self assess and take suggestions to improve instruction.

He worked well with fellow staff, parents, and students.

P - Performs non-teaching duties required of a teacher such as administrative tasks (attendance, out-of-class supervision) and school or community services (committee work, participation in events). Comments: Cameron went to all before, during, and after school meetings-STATs, IEPs, Building Leadership Team meetings, Professional Learning Time, etc. He volunteered to judge the Spelling Bee competition at the distric level. He also volunteered on a Sunday for basketball tournament fundraiser.
