jazz recordings been utilized be producer Q-tip throughout his career?. Q-tip is a major innovator in hip hop production, and his use of samples from jazz recordings helped him create his style. Q-tip style has also influenced modern jazz musicians such as Robert Glasper, and has collaborated with Kurt Rosenwinkle, Sergio Mendez, and Roy Hargrove. I hope to achieve a higher understanding of jazz's influence on modern pop music and also hip hop's influence on modern jazz, and how the two styles interpenetrate together though music history. 1).
