Course Outcomes: A student: P1 explores the conventions of practice in artmaking P2 explores the roles and relationships between the concepts of artist, artwork, world and audience P3 identifies the frames as the basis of understanding expressive representations in artmaking P4 investigates subject matter and forms as representations in artmaking P5 investigates ways of developing coherence and layers of meaning in the making of art Task Name: Practical Artmaking Dangerous Goods Task Description Dangerous Goods is a practical unit of work that explores everyday house hold images and items such as irons, fans, nail guns, power drills and other objects that create drama and unease using chiaroscuro and collage on different surfaces such as art quality paper, cardboard and brown paper/cardboard. The use of ink, charcoal, pencil is necessary. Design focused students are to use ICT and create Dangerous Goods artworks using Photoshop and movie making programs. These students will discuss ideas with the teacher before being approved to go ahead. For this task you are to create a collection (or BOW body of work) of artworks that create drama and unease using chiaroscuro and collage. Explorations of shadow, depth, volume, shape and perspective should also be evident. The work must consist of a minimum of two works and they can be presented together or separately. The works can use similar or different mediums and techniques. A VAPD must be kept and is part of your assessed mark. This diary should be kept during your artmaking and should include learned and practiced techniques, ideas, experiments and influences.
