As summer winds down, the excitement at CPTV is just starting up.

We are proud to be celebrating our 50th anniversary in October. Its a milestone that has evolved from some very simple beginnings at Trinity College to our present-day recognition as one of the most respected nonprofit organizations in the state. This autumn, we march towards a historical election in November; were working to keep our viewers and listeners informed on news as it unfolds. CPTV and WNPR are steadfast in their coverage of the race for Connecticuts congressional seats as well as the Presidential election. Presumptive candidates President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney are explored in the Frontline special The Choice, analyzing the forces behind their campaign and projecting the changes the winner will bring to the White House. Aside from Political coverage, were proud to introduce new eye-opening documentaries this fall. Half The Sky follows America Ferrera, Diane Lane, Olivia Wilde, New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof and Pulitzer Prize winner Sheryl WuDunn to meet inspiring women fighting for change around the world. Be sure to catch the three-part series Broadway or Bust, where Americas top high school musical performers compete in the ultimate theater competition. Plus, history buffs wont be disappointed with American Experiences Death and the Civil War. This insight into the Civil War examines the American cultural attitudes about death and fundamentally transformed federal government policies towards soldiers. Later this fall CPTV is proud to feature another documentary from award-winning filmmaker Ken Burns. The Dust Bowl documents the worst man-made ecological disaster in American history, which nearly swept away the breadbasket of the nation. Furthermore, this fall CPTV premieres the new series Call the Midwife, a true-to-life drama showcasing colorful stories of family and midwifery in 1950s London. Masterpiece Classic continues to bring the highest quality period dramas with the second season of Upstairs Downstairs. The lives of masters and servants have never been so captivating in this series set in 1936. Alex Kingston, star of ER and Doctor Who joins the cast for this upcoming season. CPTV and WNPR have been committed to bringing our viewers the highest quality programming over the past 50 years and look forward to continuing that trend for another 50 years and beyond.
