I have known Megan Loveless since August, 2012 when she began her practice teaching internship in my classroom. Escalante Elementary is a Title I school comprising a diverse student population with a significant number of "at-risk" and ESL students. Megans successful student teaching experience in this environment demonstrates her ability to be an effective educator for students with a wide range of backgrounds, skills, and needs. She assesses the prior knowledge and skill levels of students, consults core curriculum standards, designs clear objectives with differentiated instruction to meet individual needs, and prepares lessons that engage student interest. Megan frequently designs "handson" lessons when applicable, using appropriate manipulatives and employing cooperative learning strategies. She assesses student learning and objectively critiques lesson effectiveness. Megans classroom management skills are superior. She creates a warm and caring environment that is conducive to learning. Megans rapport with students is excellent, her expectations for classroom behavior are clear and equitable, and she deals fairly with any discipline problems in a manner that sustains individual respect and esteem. Megan exhibits a myriad of personal and professional attributes that enable her to be an exemplary educator. She always presents herself in a dignified, professional manner. She communicates frequently and openly with parents. She is supportive and cooperative with all staff members. She is faithfully courteous and cheerful. Megan is always prompt, hard-working, organized, and can be counted on to follow through with whatever is asked of her. She consistently exhibits characteristics of a caring teacher who is willing to go the extra mile.
