The Man with the Golden Helmet The painting of the Man with the Golden Helmet was

painted by Rembrandt van Rijn. The mask of the man is stern, fierce, yet it has lost its feeling of youth, the man is no longer young but old and wise. The man in the picture reminds me of an old grandfather who from being just a solider to be coming a Second Lieutenant and so on. He has gone through the pains of life and the joys, has learned his lessons in life and has helped others learn there, he is feared and respected. This is a painting of a man that has earned power and respect; it shows that the man has something to be proud of.

Hard-worker and a slave driver, these were my first thoughtswell besides simple and plain of this painting. When you look closely you can see the strained look of his face, the tired expression, the yearning for peace painted in, to be done with everything. I also see a man who is bitter, estranged from another, too proud to admit any wrongs, but the past has taken its toll on him and like most males he still clings to his pride. He had loved ones know they are have gone, disappeared, left, the people he loved, the people he needed. He is sick and going blind in one eye, he is stubborn, and he likes giving orders not taking them.

Brave and strong, he is a not just commander, but also a fighter, one who leads by example not just gives orders. A man who will fight when needed despite his status. This painting proves it, to be given an honor like that you have to have done something patriotic. He did something to get that helmet, I will never know what exactly but by his face you can tell he worked hard to get it, like he was trying to prove himself to someone. He is wise and strong now but was weak ignorant then.
