John Calvin

Predestination has three religious meanings, the first is fate; destiny, the second is the action of God in foreordaining from eternity whatever comes to pass, which means God has a plan for all. The third is a lot like the second, it says that predestination is the decree of God by which certain souls are foreordained to. Predestination is usually referenced to Gods plan or purpose of salvation and Gods governance of all events. John Calvins interpretation of predestination is not just that God govern all events, but that he also determines who will be saved, and who wont be. Its because of this that many believe that this is a cruel and untrue portrayal of God, because he has hand selected people for each category (saved or not saved). This was very different from earlier interpretations of predestination that were presented by the Catholic Church and other reform leaders, like Martin Luther. Calvins belief is different from Luthers, because Luther believed that God had chosen the saved, and the destiny of the damned was the product of their free will. John Calvins theory is reasonable to me because I believe we all have a plan mapped out for us, and all the hardships we face are to prepare us for the things that get harder later own. Its like how my parents always tell me to ignore my siblings when they make fun of me; people are not always going to like me. So by ignoring the comments that anger me now, it will be easier in the future. We are all preparing for something. Anabaptists history and persecution. Thanx for reading
