1.Deborah Day once said, Wisdom comes from reflection.

During my 8th grade year, I have written many different pieces of writings. As I reflect back on my work from my 8th grade year, I am beginning to notice not only strengths but weaknesses as well. I believe that reflections allow me to learn from my mistakes and grow as a writer. In order to compile my essays into a final product, I have created a Digital Portfolio that incorporates my personal style with my writings. 2.Between the many writings I have composed this year, I believe that my favorite writing piece is my expository essay. This essay was about a lesson learned in life. I chose to write about learning to respect my parents no matter what. My expository is my favorite because it relates to me as well as many other teenagers. Although, my expository essay was my favorite, it was not my most successful. My most successful piece was my persuasive piece. I feel as though I have always been good at persuading people. My persuasive piece shows my skills as a persuasive writer. I did a great job composing an introduction, supporting my details, and using different types of figurative language

3.Even though, it may seem like all of my writings were easy, many of them were not. At times, I would struggle with organizing my thoughts. Organizing my thoughts has always been an obstacle for me, but this year I am beginning to organize my papers better. Towards the beginning of the year I wrote my I believe poem. I didnt know much about transitions, sentence structure, or figurative language. When I compare my I Believe poem with one of my later pieces of writings, my Persuasive essay, I can see how my writing has improved. After learning from my mistakes and looking back on my pieces, I have learned to use transitions in a wise way. In addition, I am able to support my details with figurative language such as, imagery, metaphors, and similes. 4.In addition, my teacher has played a big role in my writing over the course of my 8th grade year. Mrs. Harrell has given me advice and other encouraging words that benefitted me as a writer and a student. Her words of wisdom and comments have allowed me to continue writing with an open mind. In particular, I especially believe that Mrs. Harrell enjoyed my introductions, vocabulary usage, and my ability to connect my writings with other pieces of literature I have read. As Mrs. Harrell looks over and evaluates my Digital Portfolio, I think her favorite piece will be my Cross Curricular. My Cross Curricular is an image of my prized artwork. I think she will like this piece because it shows a side of me that most people dont know and it is extremely abstract and beautiful..

5.In conclusion, my reflection on my 8th grade writing has given me much wisdom. I repeat, Deborah Day once said, Wisdom comes from reflection. After reflecting on my writings I have learned from my mistakes and also established my strengths. Now as I go further in life, I wont fall short of these mistakes and I will continue to grow as a writer. Margaret J. Wheatley once said, Without reflection, we go blindly on our way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful.
