AR Tax Exemptions Setup

Application: Setup Item:

Receivables Tax Exemptions ********

EEE Checklist Step:

In Receivables Responsibility: Navigate to: Setup> Tax > Exemptions You can use the Tax Exemptions form to create exemptions for Customers, Items, or a range of Items. To create an exemption for a Customer, enter the Name or Number of the customer, or select one from the List of Values. If you want this exemption to apply only to a particular Location or Site for this Customer, select the Location or Site name from the List of Values. Choose Find to query for existing exemptions for this Customer. Navigate to the Exemptions region to create a new exemption or to update an existing one. In the Exemptions block, enter Tax Code, Exemption Percentage, Exemption Number, Reason, Effective Dates, and a Status. (Tax Exempt Reasons must first be set-up in advance using Receivables QuickCodes.) The Tax Code is the code from which you want the customer to be Exempt. In other words, if the customer is normally charged Sales Tax, then it is the Sales Tax code which you want to enter in this field. Do not enter Exempt in this field, as that would be creating an exemption from the Exempt Tax Code. The Status field determines the manner in which the tax exemption in implemented. If the Status of Primary is selected (the default), then this exemption will automatically override the Standard tax code for this customer. If the Status of Manual is selected, then you may apply this exemption on a sales order or manual invoice, but it will not default in automatically. Change the Status to Expired when the exemption is no longer valid.
