Materials/Resources: Announcement Rubrics Announcements (3x5 notecard) Character Trait Document (20 copies) Character Trait Homework Art Supplies - Large paper - Colored Pencils - Markers - Construction Paper - Character Trait

Introduction: Leadership is something that can be molded with the proper lessons and materials. Students will receive skills, tests, and projects that will enhance their leadership capabilities. Students will begin class with their leadership booklets and a writing utensil. Warm Up: Students will reflect on a quote on leadership. Steps/Activities:

Time:

1. Students will come in, grab their leadership books (warm up) and write the objective in their planner a. Students will reflect on the following quote in their new journals: Creativity takes courage. Henri Matisse b. Students will discuss what they think the quote means (5 min) 2. If students have not received a 100% on their announcement, we will continue with the skill test (presentation) 3. We will either begin or continue with our character traits lesson. a. The instructor will pass out the Character Trait document and ask the students to highlight the characters they

display b. We will discuss Character Traits and what they mean 4.If we had already started the lesson we will begin the expressive character trait activity (team art work) a. Students will be broken into groups of 4 b. They will arrange their desks and grab a pre-cut poster paper c. Each group will receive a character trait (foam/popsicle stick) and they will each take turns (3 minutes) creating an expression of the character trait, WITHOUT talking d. Students will be stopped 15 minutes before to discuss their group art and the process it took to create it. e. The instructor will ask the students to discuss in their groups their character trait picture and what they were thinking when it was their turn to draw f. The instructor will then ask each group to present their picture to the class and explain the process they took g. Each group is required to ask one questions per presentation h. Exit Ticket: Write your reflection about the activity in your journals 5. Conclusion: Students will reflect on their art and the process it took to create it. 6.
