Participants can enroll for periods of between 1 to 2 weeks. Each weeks programme consists of 25 hours of classes, observations, teaching practice and planning, with some cultural excursions in the afternoons. The language classes are designed to increase the participants proficiency in English, with a focus on the best methods of teaching language structures and strategies, using recent advances in ESOL teaching methodology. Participants will create a personal portfolio using their teacher observations, lesson plans and materials, which they will take away after the course

During this course, participants will: Increase their own proficiency in English through thorough immersion in the language Increase their awareness of English syntax, lexis and morphology through working with our expert TESOL trainers Develop awareness of various teaching methodologies appropriate to TESOL which can be used in their own teaching Produce a portfolio of materials for use in their own schools Increase their ability to reflect constructively on their own teaching, in order to enhance their development as TESOL teachers

Course OBJECTIVES

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
TESOL TEAM
IPC recognizes that many TESOL teachers are teaching English at many levels, and our courses are therefore adjusted to the English language level of the teachers participating. Participants may enroll in courses at any one of three levels: IELTS 6+, IELTS 5-6, or IELTS less than 5.

International Pacific College (IPC) in Palmerston North is an NZQA accredited tertiary education provider. The campus is a centre of excellence for internationally focused studies, producing graduates who have the ability and qualifications to succeed in internationally orientated careers. In addition to TESOL courses, IPC offers diploma, degree and masters level qualifications in International Business, International Relations, Environmental Studies, Ecotourism, Japanese, English Language and Sport Studies. IPC has over 20 nationalities on campus, including students from Australia, Brazil, China, French Polynesia, Indonesia, Japan and Russia. TESOL trainees will have opportunities to interact with other nationalities every day, getting to know other cultures and making international contacts for the future.

Applicants may enroll immediately for courses beginning in March, June and July, and October. Because we need to place all trainees at a suitable level, and we need a minimum of 6 per group, the actual dates can be negotiated to a certain extent with the course directors.
