Philosophy of Education One of my life goals was always to become a teacher.

In my opinion, teaching is one of the most noble, brave, selfless and inspiring professions in the world. First and foremost, a teacher is not only an educator, a teacher has to be multi faceted and able to fill many roles including but not limited to: advisor, role model, guidance counselor, mentor, and student motivator for all children. Throughout my entire formal education, I have realized that the teachers that truly loved their profession not only were excellent, efficient and successful teachers, they have ultimately changed the course of my life. My influential teachers have helped me to discover that the paramount reason I have continued my education has been to share any knowledge I learn with others, just as my previous teachers willingly shared with me. For lack of better wording, I am doing my best to pay it forward in homage to all of the teachers and educators who have helped to mold me into the person and educator that I am today. I want to be a blessing to other people and knowledge is the one gift that I give to another that can last a lifetime. I have an unexplainable drive to grow as an educator, and completing my graduate degree from the University of St. Thomas has allowed me to grow exponentially as an educator. I have shared my abilities and knowledge with my other counterparts (teachers, staff and administrators). During my time as an educator and in addition to my teacher responsibilities, I have served as a teacher leader two 7th and 8th grade teams at my school. I organized a student community service project at my school, which benefitted the Houston SPCA where we raised money and purchased $850 dollars of needed pet supplies for homeless animals. I have coordinated a large-scale school field day and graduation. During my internship I designed and implemented a tardy policy that my principal and school leadership chose to utilize school wide to reduce student tardiness. I have helped my school administrators design a new discipline documentation form that has been implemented school wide this school year. I have served on the faculty advisory committee, which helps to find solutions to various school issues at my school for the past 2 years. I was also appointed as my schools representative for the HISD teacher advisory committee. I have also spent much of my time volunteering to

chaperone or lending a helping hand at various school functions ranging from student orientation to school dances. In March of 2013, I was inducted into the Pi Lambda Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi and I am very honored to be a member of this educational honor society, alongside other hardworking and dedicated educators. All of these educational experiences have enabled me to serve others better each and every day. In the near future I wish to have the opportunity to become an administrator that is an advocate for the teacher and the student. I want to learn how to be a school leader who not only is aware of the issues that affect my future staff and students, but extremely knowledgeable in how I can be of assistance to both parties in order to reach a common goal. I want to learn how to use feedback from students, parents, community members and fellow colleagues as to what I can do to improve my overall ability as an administrator on a continuous basis. As I grow in leadership, I hope to gain knowledge that is imperative to be a successful school leader. I hope to have positive, strong, influential relationships with the students, their parents, staff members and faculty under my administration. I want to be an administrator they will look up to and admire, someone they can talk to for advice, and most importantly, I want every student, parent, faculty and staff member to know that I truly want to help them to be successful in every aspect of their educational and professional careers. I will assist my students and professional counterparts with all that I can, and I will have high expectations of them. I will push them further than they may want to go, but I am also determined to make sure they know that I genuinely care about their educational and professional goals. I believe that the strenuous educational leadership courses I have completed through the University of St. Thomas have prepared me to be the best future administrator I can be and I am more than grateful to my fabulous professors and the helpful education department at UST. As a teacher, my role in teaching responsibility, accountability and self-discipline to my students has been an ongoing lesson throughout every class I have taught since my first day as a teacher. I may never fully be able to teach my students and staff how important these three attributes are to succeeding in education or life, however I will do my very best to express these qualities by leading though example. Undertones of these

essential traits will be common thread throughout my career. I will do my very best to display, explain and encourage responsibility, accountability and self-discipline to every student, staff member, and all whom I may encounter. An educator takes a seed of promise, tends it with encouragement, and watches as it grows. I absolutely love all students and the art of teaching. I have learned many life lessons in my classroom and I feel that I am ready to extend my talents in the various imperative facets of education. The passion I have for education will continue to bring me countless stories, memorable moments and so much joy. I cannot think of a better way to spend my lifes work.
