The class will begin with the students sitting in their seats, writing their homework and taking out their digestive system notes, nutrition panel lab, and digestion demo sheets. ii. I will collect the nutrition panel labs from those who have not turned it in yet. iii. On Friday we did the digestion demos, but some students didnt have enough time to write the answers on their digestion demo sheet. The introduction to this lesson will be a review of the digestion demos. I will ask students to explain what happened during each demo and how it relates to the digestive system. iv. I will have the sheet up on the SMART board for students to copy down the correct answers so that they can study from them for their quiz tomorrow. The introduction should only take 5-10 minutes. b. Development i. The instructional strategy used in this lesson is direct instruction mixed with class discussion and hands on activities at the SMARTboard for the students. ii. The majority of this lesson will focus on reviewing the unit on the human digestive system for the quiz tomorrow. This should take the remainder of the class period, approximately 30 minutes. iii. I have assembled relevant worksheets for us to complete as a class on the SMARTboard. Students will label a diagram of organs in the digestive tract as well as accessory organs.

iv. I also got the human model for a visual demonstration of the digestive system so that we can review. v. If there is enough time I have created SMARTboard slides to review material students likely need refreshing on. Students will be able to go up to the board and match definitions to pictures or terms. These hands on activity will allow students to remember information for their quiz tomorrow. c. Guided Practice and Feedback (Checking for Understanding) i. The worksheets and SMARTboard activities will serve as guided practice. I will be able to asses how well the students understand the material as they complete the worksheets and match up definitions to terms. I will also be able to check for understanding as I ask students questions and have them answer questions on the worksheets. ii. I will give specific praise when students answer correctly and I will try to redirect questions or ask others for help when a student is struggling for an answer. d. Accommodations and modifications for Learners with Special Needs i. In this lesson, students with special needs will receive a filled in copy of the worksheet so they have all the correct answers without rushing to complete it. e. Closure i. The method of evaluation for this lesson will be the digestive system quiz. This is a summative assessment designed to test the students understanding
