CLEVE NORRELL, Airport Manager of the Monroe Regional

Airport in Monroe, Louisiana, was aware of the identity of the
interviewing agent and the purpose of the interview. NORRELL
provided the following information:

From September 1,2001 through September H, 2001, the

airport did not have any incidents and/or incident reports. The
airport did have an FAA weapon test conducted by Globe Aviation
Services on September 10 and September 11, 2001. NORRELL
provided copies of the FAA weapon tests reports. On September
10,2001, there was a pipe-bomb test of the x-ray system. The
bomb was detected by the screener located in a suitcase. Also on
September 10, 2001, an encapsulated gun magnetometer test was
conducted when an FAA agent attempted to pass through security
with a pistol on his person. The weapon was detected by
security. On September H, 2001, an encapsulated gun x-ray test
was conducted of a gun in a suitcase. The gun was detected by
security.

On September H, 2001, three airplanes were grounded at

the Monroe Regional Airport, consisting of a Delta Airlines 727,
an American Eagle RJ, and an ASA CRJ. Each airline conducted a
search of the aircrafts after all passengers had deplaned. Delta
noted their search in their log book. American Eagle and ASA
were flights diverted to Monroe and did not file any reports with
the terminal. However, none of these searches found any items
out of the ordinary. On September 13, 2001, the Delta Airlines
727 and ASA CRJ were searched again prior to takeoff. NORRELL
provided copies of the cabin search checklist for the Delta
flight and ASA flight. Neither flight noted anything out of the
ordinary.

Copies of the three FAA weapons tests and the two cabin
search checklists are enclosed in a 1A envelope for the file
along with the interview notes.
