CALIBRATION OF MICROMETER
AIM: To understand working principle and measurement using Slip Gauges. To calibrate the given Micrometer using Slip Gauge and to plot the calibration graph. INSTRUMENTS REQUIRED: 1. Micrometer Range : 25-50mm L.C. : 0.01mm 2. Slip Gauges Gauge block set of grade A (87pcs) WORKING FORMULAE: For drawing the best line and obtaining the calibration equation, y = mx + c

PRECUATIONS: Gauge blocks are handled carefully so as not to damage the surfaces. It should never be keep as measuring face to bottom. PROCEDURE: 1. Note down least count and zero error of Micrometer 2. The gauge blocks are cleaned and all grease is removed. 3. Gauge blocks are wringed to make the required dimension. 4. The dimension of gauge blocks is measured using micrometer. 5. The result is tabulated and the process is repeated to get a set of reading 6. The calibration graph is plotted and calibration equation is found out. OBSERVATIONS AND CALCULATIONS: 1. Micrometer Range = Least count = Zero error =
