ISL Week 8 2.0 REPORT ON UNIVERSITY EVENT

Malaysia Innovation Nation Convention Organised by Limkokwing University

The nations premier university of creativity, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, is once again taking the lead in promoting innovation as the tool of the 21st century by hosting the Malaysia: Innovation Nation convention at the varsitys Hall of Fame on 20 July 2010.

The prestigious convention, which will see Malaysias top industry captains, academics, heads of government bodies and professionals coming together to deliver a number of papers with innovation as the theme will be officially opened by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, who will give the keynote address.

The speakers will focus on six titles covering such topics as: re-inventing the administration for essential transformation, re-inventing SMEs as pivotal contributors, re-inventing our overall eco-system to promote creative thinking, reinventing the education system: encouraging innovation and re-inventing the way we connect and compete: the impact of the new media.

Since assuming the mantle of leadership in April 2009, Datuk Seri Najib has been driving energetically to implement innovation in government policies, especially the recently released 10th Malaysia Plan, which is engineered to power Malaysias economic advancement.

The 10th Malaysia Plan sets another historical milestone as our nation embarks on an important mission towards a progressive and high-income nation as envisioned in Vision 2020.

The Prime Minister told Parliament that Malaysia can no longer rely on past strategies and approaches.

For Malaysia to be a high income nation, we must be able to compete on a regional and global stage. This requires redoubling our efforts to attract investment, drive productivity and innovation. The foundation of any productive high income economy lies in a globally competitive, creative and innovative workforce. To achieve this, an integrated approach to nurturing, attracting and retaining first-world talent base will be implemented.

The Malaysia: Innovation Nation convention will focus its attention on building the eco-system, one that will sustain all efforts and build for Malaysia a strong advantage to grow its economy in new ways that will add value to its existing resources.

The convention will also serve as a platform for the delegates to deliberate and find solutions that will lay the foundation for creativity and innovation as the way forward to drive the country beyond 2020. Limkokwing University, as the organiser of Malaysia: Innovation Nation is determined to develop a culture that celebrates creativity and promotes innovation.
