Dribble around the gym clock wise at walking pace. When you hear the whistle freeze for instruction (speed walk, jog, run). Basketball game: 4 teams; 2 with pinnies; Mrs. Finlay to ref one game; Mrs. Graham to ref the other.

Day: 3 Students of the Week: Susana and Evan Cool Down: student lead stretches in a circle in the middle of the gym. Resources: basketballs; whistle; pinnies. Evaluation: anecdotal notes on students progression in dribbling, passing and participation. RECESS Numeracy: Algebra Lesson/Strategies: 3 part lesson plan Getting Started - Take up Practice #21; review PEDMAS; review the steps to solve an equation as a class. Working on it - Handout Algebra Practice #10; students to complete worksheet through peer coaching. One student answers the questions (talking through each step with their partner and writing it down as they go), the coach listens, corrects and helps their partner. - Both students show their work/write the answer on their own sheet. - Model Peer coaching with a student volunteer. Reflect and Connect - Have pairs of students share their thinking with the rest of the class. Discuss the strategies they used to solve the question. Reflection: - Students will need another day or so to finish DRA. - Students collaborated really well in both Drama and in Math- they do excellent work in pairs and in groups. It is very obvious that they enjoy group work. - Majority of students have a very good grasp of Algebra, and are ready to complete the unit test.
