Miniature Gilet Noeud Noeud

Adapted by Amanda Childs, from Sophie Missgraindesels Gilet noeud noeud

General Information: ! This adorable 18 inch doll sweater is knitted in one piece and then seamed along the sleeves and sides. The bow is knit separately and then sewn onto the button band. One or two snaps are then sewn on the button band to close the sweater. Detailed instructions and video tutorials for sweater seaming are available on youtube and other websites. I used mattress stitch to sew up the model shown above. Techniques used: ! The sweater bands, cuffs, and bow are knit in seed or moss stitch, (alternating rows of knit 1, purl 1). The sweater body is knit in stockinette stitch. The sweater is seamed using mattress stitch. Gauge: ! 8 sts across/ 1inch, 10 rows/ 1 inch Yarn: ! Most any sock or ngering weight yarn will work well for this project. The model is worked using Plymouth Happy Feet sock yarn. Make sure to get gauge. It is important that stitches be small, so that the resulting fabric looks proportional to the doll. Because of this, worsted weight yarns are not a good choice for this project. Needles: ! One set of four or ve size US 2, 2.75 mm double-pointed needles were used to achieve gauge. Pattern: 1. Cast on 48 sts. 2. Work 10 rows in seed st. (1 inch) 3. Work 25 rows in stockinette st. (2.5 inches) 4. Cast on 40 sts on either side of the work, while knitting the rst 8 and last 8 sts in seed st. 5. Work as established for 20 rows. (1.5 inches) 6. Knit 8 seed, 40 stockinette, 32 seed, 40 stockinette, and 8 seed to nish the row. 7. Work as established for 5 rows.

8. Knit 8 seed, 40 stockinette, 8 seed, bind off 16 sts, knit 8 seed, 40 stockinette, 8 seed to nish row. 9. Leave 56 sts on a holder or scrap yarn. 10. * Continue knitting on one side of the piece for 5 rows as established. (You will later come back to the sts on the holder and complete the other side of the sweater front) 11. Cast on 12 sts at the end of the row, on the right side of the work, toward the sweater middle. You are creating the button band. 12. Knit 8 seed, 40 stockinette, 20 seed, for 5 rows. 13. Knit 8 seed, 20 stockinette, 8 seed, for 15 rows. 14. Bind off 40 sts on armhole side, (opposite to neckline) then work as established for 25 rows. 15. Work 10 rows in seed st, and bind off. 16. Join yarn to other side and pick up sts from holder, making sure not to twist sts. Knit from * to end. 17. Make up sides by sewing with mattress st. 18. Bow: Knit one band of 16 sts for 60 rows and sew or triple bind-off ends together. Knit another, smaller band of 6 sts for 20 rows and sew or triple bind-off ends together. Assemble bow by slipping the smaller band around the middle of the larger band. 19. Sew bow onto the front of the sweater, making sure to secure the layers of the bow, but not sew all the way through it so that the sts show on the front of the sweater. 20. Sew snaps behind the bow to secure the sweaters closure. Youre done!
