Karmic Mission and Vision of Steve Jobs.

The world had seen many business tycoons, but Steve Jobs of Apple Inc stands out differently as a visionary a description that the US President Barrack Obama gave about Jobs upon his death. What makes Steve Jobs different from other business men is that he pulled out his company, Apple Computer from a near bankruptcy within 2 years and made it a leader in the industry within 10 years. Looking at the circumstances of these two happenings, we find that he managed to pull-out the company from bankruptcy when his competitors namely Microsoft and Intel were at their lowest ebb, facing law suits in the courts. This gives a clue on whether he gained from the loss of the competitor. The next happening is the quick upswing that he managed to clinch by means of innovation and introduction of diversified products from digital music to computing technology that catered to different kinds of people. It is here that his unique thought process in understanding the psyche of the customers and making them crave for things not thought before has come in to play. . This cannot be the result of some business acumen, but something else, which Obama characterised as vision that deserves our attention for astrological analysis. Business factors. Before analysing his horoscope, let us note down some of the important features found in the horoscopes of successful business people as there are quite many who have exhibited some kind of vision, translated into business tactics. Mercury, the lord of the 3rd house of Dhairya veerya kaaryasiddhi in the natural zodiac is well placed in the horoscope of such persons. Communication skills and business acumen are granted by Mercury. The 3rd from the 3rd is Leo lorded by the Sun. Sun stands for both Atma karaka and support from Government. A successful businessman must have Sun in good stead for him to have good self confidence, vigour and domination. In a survey of successful business people done in the US, it was found out that most of them had Sun in Pisces. Looking at the rationale of this from astrology we find that Pisces is the 10th house from the 3rd house in the natural zodiac (Gemini) and also the 3rdhouse from the house of profession in the natural zodiac (Capricorn). Saturn as the lord of Capricorn also comes in the picture of business establishment because it stands for how well the businessman handles his workers and gets their cooperation. Thus we have 3 planets, namely Mercury, Sun and Saturn playing crucial role in the success of a businessman. Of these the relationship between Saturn and Mercury are more crucial for inter-personal relationships in running the day to day administration of the company successfully. It is because Mercury as the lord of 6th from Capricorn (10th house of profession in the natural zodiac) must not play against him by creating enemies and debts. The same Mercury as lord of the 9th where it exalts (Virgo) is crucial for luck and success. This 9th from 10th house is actually the 6th from the lagna. The

6th house stands for competitions and therefore a successful businessman must have favourable disposition with regard to the 6th house in order to overcome competition. With these basic factors, let us see what the horoscope of Steve Jobs indicates.

Mercury, the 2nd lord in his rasi is in the 6th house and in retrogression while the 6th lord is in exaltation in the 3rd house. This 3rd house being Libra is endowed with business acumen thereby showing that his Saturn and Mercury periods must have been significant in dealing with competitors. This is strengthened by the position of Sun. His lagna is Leo, the sign of Sun, which is odd, fiery and also a fixed sign. All these together indicate the tough interiors of this man. An additional reinforcement comes from the lagna lord, Sun occupying the 7th house and aspecting the lagna from there. All these put together makes him a strong willed person with a never-say-no mentality. But the question is are these enough to make him a business wonder who made a turn around as though with a magic wand? The horoscope does not show any exemplary Raja yogas. But he had been rated as number one among the business men of the entire world by the Fortune Magazine. Therefore behind the normal exterior of distribution of planets, there must remain concealed a mission with which he was born. For this we have to look at two factors in a horoscope one the karmasthan and the other, the inner voice that propels a person in the right direction. While the 10th house is seen for the first factor, planet Ketu must be analysed for lending an inner voice or vision as the second factor. We usually regard Ketu as a Moksha karaka and a gyana karaka. These are possible only if the person is

elevated internally and is able to generate ideas instinctively. Though Ketu is away from materialism, it comes into play for making a person give visionary ideas. These two factors can be checked in the horoscopes of rare visionaries who made a difference to the life of people at large. When coupled with astrological factors of business acumen, they make visionary business persons. Jamshedji Tata was one. Bill Gates also ushered in a kind of revolution in the world by his internal acumen. Steve Jobs is another in the series though he managed to push Gates business behind his own. The reason was partly of the making of Gates (of course propelled by adverse position of some planets) though he also shows a similar missionary karma in his horoscope. Karmic mission. Coming to the details, Taurus is the 10th house for Steve Jobs. The 9th lord from Taurus is Saturn which is exalted in the 3rd house, Libra. From the Moon sign, the 10th house is Sagittarius. Its lord Jupiter is in retrogression in the 3rd house of the Natural zodiac (Gemini). From there Jupiter is aspecting its own house (10th house from Moon). The 9th lord from the 10th house from Moon is Sun which is asepcting its own house. What is extraordinary is that the planets of all these houses from both lagna and Moon sign are in auspicious relationship. That is, Jupiter, the lord of purva punya happens to be the 10th lord from Moon sign. It is posited in the laabha house from lagna from where it is aspecting the 9th lord from the 10th house from lagna (Saturn ), the 9th lord from 10th house from the Moon sign (sun) and the 10th lord Venus. Karmic Vision. More importantly, Jupiter joins Ketu in Gemini (3rd sign in the Natural zodiac showing business acumen) and retrogrades so as to go after Ketu! Ketu and Jupiter are occupying the consecutive stars. When Ketu and Jupiter are in the same sign or in same direction or in successive signs, it causes Moksha yoga! For our study we interpret it as a kind of inner vision that the person comes to possess. Checking this in the times periods, we find that Steve Jobs indeed made his mark in the industry in his Ketu Maha dasa (1977). It expanded until mid -80s (Ketu- Saturn). The next Maha dasa was that of Venus, his 10th lord. Venus occupies the 5th house from Lagna which happens to be the 10th house from his moon sign. Therefore Venus is the best period in his life to carry out a Karmic mission. He took the company to new heights by which it was rated as number -2, only behind IBM. But when Moon sub-period came, things worked out differently. No doubt, Moon enjoys Vipareeta Raja Yoga and is posited in the asterism of exalted Saturn, the 9th lord from the 10th house. But its location is in the 8th house in rasi and in 12th house in Navamsa. The stellar dispositor of Moon (Saturn) has lordship of the 6th house. As a result he did not find it comfortable in continuing in the company and came out. However, he was not handicapped because of that. His professional career graph continued to rise with new innovations and responsibilities.

It was in the period after leaving the Apple Company that he started innovating new age technologies of animation pictures that rewrote the history of cinema and entertainment. The running period was Venus which is posited in the asterism of Sun, the 9th lord from 10th house from the moon sign. Venus lent the touch for customer applications with an element on artistry, creativity and entertainment. The 10 year period starting from Venus- Moon to Venus- Jupiter saw him contribute to this field with which the entertainment business made great strides by using technology introduced by him. Historical turn-around. Then came Venus- Saturn period the crucial period of Karmic mission. It was in this period he was recalled by the beleaguered Apple Company. He took over in September 1997 when the company was almost bankrupt. That period marked the low tide for the competitors namely Microsoft and Intel. These competitors were facing a series of law suits. At that time Jobs took over the Apple Company. Though it was by inner instinct that Jobs managed to pull out the company from bankruptcy, the bad times of the competitors was also exploited by him deftly. In his horoscope, the 2nd lord goes to 6th house. Usually this transfers the benefit of the self to the competitor. But this 2nd lord (Mercury) in retrogression reversed it. Moreover the 6th lord has come to occupy the 3rd house whose lord also happens to be Venus. This 6th lord is Saturn which gets exalted in the 3rd which is 11th from the 10th lord Venus. Therefore Satrurn antar dasa in Venus Maha dasa proved to be a period when he could cash in on the troubles of his competitors and push his business interests forward. The recovery happened in Saturn and Mercury antar dasas of Venus Maha dasa. From then onwards there was no looking back. His inner vision took control of his thought flows. We find that the launch of the extraordinary product namely the iPod took place in Venus Ketu! The 3 consecutive sub-periods of Venus, namely Saturn, Mercury and Ketu proved to be the period of carrying out a Karmic mission for the benefit of people from different walks of life say, from music world to cinema, to fashion industry and to ordinary folks every major section was given the new age technology -based entertainment and utility. This period is acclaimed by industry analysts as the major turn-around in business history. With the end of Venus dasa, his glorious Karmic mission came to an end. Though he continued in the industry, illness overtook him in the Sun dasa that followed. His end came in Moon- Jupiter- Ketu showing a surprising coincidence of the Moksha element in his departure. It is as though he came, finished a mission and left forever! In analysing horoscopes of successful business visionaries particularly with contributions to technology on illusions such as cinema, laser printers etc we find the play of Neptune also. Jobs had Neptune in the 3rd house in Martian asterism. Mars is the Yoga karaka for his Leo ascendant, posited in the 9th house (its own house) but interestingly in the asterism of Ketu! This connect of Neptune with Mars and Ketu also worked in harmony with the karmic combinations we discussed above. Comparison with Bill Gates. In the overall analysis, we thus find a mutual inter connection with all the planets in his horoscope working towards the 10th house and the 9th lord from the 10th house. Such an overall connection is

not found in other popular businessmen, say in the horoscope of Bill Gates who also has an auspicious connection between 10th house and 9th lord from the 10th house. Gates also had a similar connection of Jupiter and Ketu with these houses. Like Jobs, he too had moon in the asterism of Saturn in Pisces with Saturn exalted in Libra. The 10th from Moon is Sagittarius. The 9th from this 10th house is occupied by Jupiter itself. This Jupiter is in the asterism of Ketu! Like Jobs, Gates launched his successful mission in Ketu Maha dasa. The karmic mission and vision did exist for Gates too. But an element negativity is there in his horoscope in the form of Sun in debility in the business house of Libra! As Sun is the 9th lord from the 10th house from his moon sign, his Sun dasa did not help him as he was entangled in anti-trust law suits. Such types of crisis did not come in the way of Steve Jobs as we find all the planets in his horoscope working in tandem towards a singular goal of business accomplishments driven by a spiritual disposition of an inner voice.
