Ephesians 2:8 What is it? Salvation simply put is eternal life.

It is the single occurring event that reckons a person as saved and washed of their sins in the eyes of God. (John 17:3) How do you get it? God provides enough grace for us to choose to put our faith in Him; by this faith through grace alone, we are saved. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Can you maintain it in yourself? No. If we cannot obtain it by any works of our own, then we equally cannot maintain it by anything we do. (Romans 3:23-25) Can you observe it in others? No. Salvation is a matter of the heart. Ones salvation bears different fruit as one is given different gifts and purposes. We can never truly know for sure who is or is not saved beyond that persons own profession of faith. (Romans 14:4; 1 Corinthians 4:5) What about their fruit? The scripture that speaks about fruit pertains to false prophets and true doctrine. This is not evidence on which to judge the salvation of another. (Matthew 7:15-20) Can you lose it? Salvation is described as a gift from God. God tells us that He will not withdraw His gifts from His children. Salvation is a birth of our spirits from death to life. God does not repeal His gift of salvation once one accepts it, and He does not take the life of Christ from us and put our spirits back to death. So, no, you cannot lose it. (Romans 8:31-39; Romans 11:29; Philippians 1:6; 1 Peter 1:5) What if you renounce your faith? 1. You never truly believed. (Matthew 7:22-23) 2. He will remain faithful. This refers specifically to the removal of Gods wrath and the punishment for our sin. (Romans 5:1;Galatians 3:24) Sanctification is the process of our body, mind, and spirit becoming more and more Christ-like as we, by discipline and practice and Gods grace, pursue a righteous lifestyle. This refers specifically to the likening of our image to that of our Creator over the course of our lifetime. (Galatians 2:20; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Colossians 3:1-17) Redemption is an event that happens in part at salvation and in whole at death. In part at salvation because our soul and spirit have been redeemed as they are made alive again in and through Christ. In whole at death because then our entirety is redeemed as, whether we have received our glorified bodies yet or not, every ounce of us is redeemed and righteous in Gods eyes positionally as well as practically.
