*Teacher Preparation: The teacher will need to set out the kiddie pools with mud, leaves, and green corn starch. The day of the activity the teacher will need to put them outside. Write a letter to parents about this activity and make sure all parents are okay with their children getting dirty. I will ask the parents for a change of clothes and a towel. *Children Preparation: The children will be asked to come to school ready for a fun outdoor very messy play activity. *Dramatic play props used/made: I did not use a dramatic play prop for this activity. *Book used:

I did not use a book for this activity. Safety: List safety considerations and your plan regarding them. I will make sure to tell the children to be careful because the pools will be very slippery. I will tell them when stepping into the pool to step in one foot at a time very slowly. When stepping out to step out slowly so they do not fall. Procedure: (step by step) Beginning: How will you introduce this activity? On Friday we will have outdoor play time at the very end of the day. I will say to them when we sit down in the carpet: Today we will going outside and having a very fun activity. It is a very messy activity. All dinosaurs lived in different habitats. Some liked to live by leaves, some liked swamps, others like the dry. You guys will be able to go outside and decide which habitat you like better. We will have some mud outside, we will have a pile of leaves outside, and we will have some goop outside.

You can take you shoes off and you can step into the mud, leaves, or goop and stomp just like a dinosaur, jump like a dinosaur, or walk like a dinosaur, even roar like a dinosaur. Okay if your ready show me your ready to go outside. When I call your name you can roar like a dinosaur to the line. Remember when you get to the area with the mud wait there do not start okay. Middle: List open-ended questions that the teacher could ask: When we go outside I will walk them trough the activity. I will say: We are going to start here in the mud you can stomp like any dinosaur that you like. Then we are going to the leaves you can pretend to be a dinosaur. Then you go to the goop. And you can roar. You can do anything you would like to do in the buckets. Just be very careful to step in and out softly because it can be very slippery. I will then let them take their shoes off and they can begin the activity. If I see any girls that do not want to join I will ask them Why are you not doing the activity? If they answer that it is because they are girls, I will say: Everyone is the same. It doesnt matter if we are girls or boys we can all get dirty. There were girl dinosaurs that also lived in the mud If a boy says the girls cant play I will say to them: All dinosaurs were different just like humans. Girls and boys can both do the same activities. Do you see the pictures there of all the dinosaurs, they were girls and boys. It does not matter if you are a girl you can still do the same activities than boys. Can you stomp? Can you roar? Can you jump? See you can do everything the same. I will observe the children and I will observe the safety measures. End: Plan for Clean-Up and Transition: I will give the children a five minute warning Five minutes boys and girls, then we will have your towels and some water here for you guys to wash up. As the parents start to arrive, I will dismiss the children who are playing and have them roar like dinosaurs to their parents. The parents along with one of the assistant teachers can put water on the children to wash them off. The children will have their own towel, and change of clothes their parents have provided.
