Parent Signature_____________________ Dear Parents: 8th grade is still running the Pennies for Patients fundraiser. Thank you for all the generous donations so far! We are collecting money in the boxes every day and the 8th grade will be counting it up at the end of each week to see which classroom is in the lead. Whichever class brings in the most money receives a pasta and breadstick lunch from Olive Garden. In Math, we will be working on nonstandard measurement (measuring with other objects like pennies, paperclips, and cubes). We will also be introducing dimes. Please continue to practice counting coins with your child at home. In Word Study, we are practicing the short e sound like in egg and elephant. In Science, we are learning about solids, liquids and gases. In Writing Workshop, we are working to add details using our senses and our feelings, and we are beginning to add dialogue into our stories. In Reading Workshop, we are working on how to read with our reading buddies and the roles of listener and speaker.
