The USHJA is committed to advancing and
representing the hunter and jumper disciplines

equestrians that promotes the welfare of the

nationally
recognized affiliate
for the hunter and
jumper disciplines.
Reasons for the
USHJA Include:
1. To keep the hunters and jumpers together on a
national level.
2. To better educate all levels of hunter/jumper
participants.
3. To benefit the welfare of the horses.
4. To represent all levels of hunter/jumper participants
and give these participants a voice in their governance.
5. To promote inclusion of participants from all levels in the
organization.
6. To help govern the hunter/jumper discipline through a
more cohesive and efficient rule change process.

Pony Hunters
a. SMALL ponies are not to
exceed 12.2 hands;
b. MEDIUM ponies are over
12.2 and do not exceed
13.2 hands;
c. LARGE ponies are over
13.2 and do not exceed
14.2 hands.
• The height and
spread of obstacles at
Regular Competitions
are 2’3” for small, 2’6”
for medium and 3’ for
large ponies.
• Spread of jump may
not exceed height and
must be measured
including flowers,
brush and ground
lines.
Hunter Championships
• A Championship may not be offered in a
section unless a minimum of two over
fences classes and one Under Saddle
class are held.
