Reflective writing Nº1: The school

Name: Tomás Frez Bernal

During the time I have been attending to Saint Dominic School I have to say that it
seems fairly well organized. Of course some students arrive late and some do not do
their homework but it is to be expected from children or even teenagers.
As a Christian school it is clear that students have a high sense of respect, I have yet to
see someone making fun of a classmate or any kind of insult. Having studied in a
Christian school I really relate to this, since I am very well behaved and quite a
gentleman, there seems to be something in not just Christianity as a religious doctrine
but instead as a world view filled with good values that stirs students towards a good
path. It is amazingly important to state the importance of families in school, it is
fundamental for parents to become participants of activities and internal affairs of the
institution1.
The school has many rules made in order to keep students under a specific line of
thought, this is noticeable since they are accustomed to a routine, taking out the book,
doing something in the book, watering the plants and such.
About the way classroom’s activities could be improved I’d have to say that I really
miss some usage of the location of the school. I have yet to see some sort of field trip to
the beach or a museum. In terms of learning, apart from what I’ve mentioned I don’t
really see how we can improve such a good school.
