For ISLLC standard four, the focus is on collaboration with faculty and community for the benefit of the

student. As an educational leader, the focus for my two major artifacts of importance is to develop a project for cultural sensitivity that enriches the values, customs, and appreciation for the culturally diverse population in our schools. My second objective as a leader is to support and develop a project that enhances information in a way that improves my communication skills with my staff regarding the importance of creating a safe learning environment. Below are the products and functions of standard two of the Policy Standards: ISLLC 2008 for Educational Administration. Professional Development Plan and Analysis FunctionA. Collect and analyze data and information that is pertinent to the educational environment. Culturally Responsive Education Research Project Functions: A. Collect and analyze data and information pertinent to the educational environment. B. Promote understanding, appreciation, and use of the diverse cultural of the community, social, and intellectual resources. C. Build and sustain positive relationships with families and caregivers. D. Build and sustain productive relationships with community partners. For my Culturally Responsive Education Research project I chose to focus on the achievement gap of the Alaska Native Students that are at a higher risk for student failure and low expectation towards education. The transformation of a cultural and the social economic differences influences their education. My study inspired me to look for programs that would help influence these students and find support in a positive educational experience. This is where I focused on developing recourses to support community diversity, collect data to support the cause, build a learning environment that was culturally sensitive, and develop a relationship with the community that encourages native elders visiting the school. To demonstrate collaboration with faculty, in my professional development and analysis project, I chose to focus on the importance of safety amongst staff members. Over the past year, as the intern principal, on occasions, staff members would ask me about policies and procedures regarding emergency drills. To communicate the information, I designed an electronic emergency chart that each teacher would have in their classroom on a PowerPoint so it could be used at the beginning of the school year as a review for tenured teachers and new teachers. It would become part of the new teacher orientation packet that is given to them at the start of the school year. Another point is a review these charts prior to all emergency drills with the students through flipcharts. As and educational leader, I believe I have demonstrated my understanding of standard two and these function are exemplars of my competency in standard four.
