My Reflection
A conducive learning environment is a big help to be able to facilitate teaching and learning process This is the thought that has been analyzed in my mind while doing the task on this activity. In addition, I also figure out that the learning resources should also be corresponds to what is trending worldwide to be able to bring our learners into a globally competent. . Since we are in the hi-tech era, computers are everywhere in any resource center. Like in the library, when we hear that place, we come to think of books and other printed materials but nowadays, there is an availability of Elibrary which means that learners can browse the web to find other books which are not available in the library. I myself personally experience to enter a library by using the internet and I have realized that how important the computers in learning and teaching process. Likewise in the computer room, I have seen the assistance that a computer gives to the learners to be able to reach for the top possibilities of learning. Although I was not able to see computers in Science Laboratory and T.L.E Laboratory, I appreciate the different learning resources found in those places. The learning resources would help us to understand and apply the hands on learning which will eventually make us better in the future. Although we cant deny the unavailability of other learning resources, we still acknowledge the school and especially the teachers who are very creative in giving us the alternative resources for better understanding in teaching the lessons. Above all, doing this activity is a great experience because I was able to find out the development of the DHVTSU in terms of learning resources.

Indicators
The theme of the bulletin board is immediately evident. Appropriate concepts are stated accurately. Adequate and accurate information supports the concepts. The display is well organized. The display draws and holds the attention of the audience for which it was intended. If there is a sequence of events and/or topics, it is easy to follow. Pictures, diagrams, graphs, and other visuals add to the interest and quality of information. Printed and visual materials are easily read/seen from several feet away. The bulletin board is neat and presentable.

This is a bulletin board displayed in the LTD building. It is actually made by the Math and Science club. There are Math and Science trivia to be answered by students who will happen to pass by. I am actually one of those who passed by and I noticed that the theme is immediately evident. The display is well organized thats why it catches the attention of students. The pictures are somehow related to the theme. The trivia are well displayed but there are no answers which will give clue to those who answered , know if their answer is correct. Since there are numbers of trivia, the displayed letters are not readable in a little distance away. Somehow the bulletin board is well-made because it is neat and presentable.

MY REFLECTION A bulletin board is a place for posting or displaying information, therefore it is indeed considered as one of the learning resources. Bulletin boards are useful way to make information available to a community or a group, to create interest in events, ideas, or products, to create motivation to read, and to display artwork and other paper items of interest. The definition on my first paragraph was developed as I am engaging myself in this activity number two. I was able to differentiate the bulletin boards found in different colleges. Some are very satisfactory and others are good. I have learned that it does not matter how many information are to be displayed, what matter most is the information there is very helpful and understandable. Bulletin board should also be made with organization to the theme and neatly displayed. In that way the viewer will be encourage to look at it and give a minute of reading. I have found out the importance of bulletin boards in school. It is where we can find the information, especially if it is about events. The bulletin board can provide answers to some of questions in our head. Some bulletin boards can also entertain which still purpose is to impart knowledge. This activity will prepare me when I am already in the field. My major is in preschool, thats why it is essential for me to develop my creativity and resourcefulness. The skills I have acquired from this task will be use when I will have the opportunity to design my ideal preschool classroom in the future

provide this teaching aid.

MY REFLECTION Teaching aids are very useful tool used by teachers especially in lower level grade just to make their lessons clearer for their learners. These teaching aids can help the pupils to improve their cognitive and language aspects and also manipulate useful computer software for kids. They can also reinforce skills, facts or ideas from these things and most of all these things can motivate pupils to love learning. On the part of teachers, teaching aids act as assistance to them in delivering the lesson and accomplishing the learning task that will help learners to achieve the instructional objectives. I have realized that making the teaching aids appropriate to the learning task is very significant because if the appropriateness is present, I can assume that my pupils will achieve the instructional objectives that I have set in a particular subject. Appropriateness of teaching aids will also make the lesson meaningful especially if it is hands-on. I have seen the difference between public and private schools when it comes to using teaching aids. I salute public teachers for being resourceful and creative because somehow they can provide teaching aids that is appropriate to the learning task for their pupils. However, private teachers are lucky enough to have at least available teaching aids but they still do their best to add more to what is available just to make sure that their pupils will acquire the highest level of the set objectives. In the future whether I will teach in public or private school, I will do my best to make my teaching aids appropriate to my lesson. If ever God will grant my classroom with at least few computers, I will make sure I will use it as teaching aids because nowadays, young

4. Prepare a pictorial of them.

MY REFLECTION
This activity made me realized the importance of teaching aids and the qualities that a teacher should possess in order to provide teaching aids in her class to make the teaching-learning more effective and enjoyable. Every individual has the tendency to forget. Therefore proper use of teaching aids helps to retain more concepts permanently. Pupils can learn better when they are motivated properly through different teaching aids. These aids develop the proper image when the pupils see, hear taste and smell properly. Teaching aids create the environment of interest for the pupils. It helps to increase the vocabulary of the pupils and helps the teacher to get sometime and make learning permanent to provide direct experience to the pupils. Good qualities of the teacher are also important so that they can provide teaching aids. That is why Field Study subject belongs to our curriculum so that we can develop the skills needed for a good qualified teacher. We should have the creativeness and resourcefulness. We cant prevent the expensive materials in making teaching aids but if we are creative and resourceful, we can make things possible. The art skill of the teacher is also important. She must possess the skill of being artistic. The purpose of groupings in Field Study is to make each students learn from one another. There is no human who is not creative and artistic, we should only have to discover it within ourselves. The skills that we had acquired from this activity will be useful to us when we are already in the field of teaching. As I am engage in this activity, I have acquired ideas of different teaching aids that can be use in Math like the flashcards that can be use for one to one correspondence, Geoboard for making different shapes, the socks puppet that can be use in telling stories about Math, and another is

Go, grow and glow foods are three simple groups of food that the body needs for growth and body, muscle and skin development. Foods also supply the body with energy and nutrients for activities, mobility and protection against diseases.

GO FOODS
Go foods contain carbohydrates that supply our body with energy in the form of calories that are needed for activities such as walking, running, jumping, working, swimming, etc. Go foods make the body strong and active.

Handouts for Parents NUTRITION MONTH 2012

Field Study 3 Technology in the Learning Environment

Page 34

Presidential Decree 491 or the Nutrition Act of the Philippines appointed the National Nutrition Council as the lead agency to coordinate the nationwide celebration of this annual event held every July, the Nutrition Month. The objectives of this years celebration are to increase vegetable consumption as part of a healthy diet to address micronutrient deficiencies and non-communicable diseases; to promote vegetable gardening as a source of additional food and income and to increase demand for vegetables to help local vegetable farmers. Why give importance to vegetables? Nutrition Month focuses on vegetables for several reasons: a. Filipinos are eating less and less vegetables. b. Vegetables as part of a healthy diet can help prevent major non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, stomach cancer, colorectal cancer, obesity, and diabetes. c. Consumption of vegetables can help prevent micronutrient deficiencies.

Field Study 3 Technology in the Learning Environment

Page 35

What are the health benefits of eating vegetables? 1. May help decrease bone loss as vegetables decrease the amount of calcium excreted in the urine 2. May help in lowering calorie intake and thus, help in maintaining healthy weight because vegetables are low in calories 3. Vegetables do not contain cholesterol.

What are the ways of preparing vegetables?

1. Boiling such as nilaga or sinigang. 2. Steaming is the best way to cook vegetables. 3. Stir-frying is a cooking method that can preserve the good flavor and color of vegetables. 4. Broiling is a method of cooking by exposing food to direct heat, either on a grill over live coals or a gas burner or electric coil.

What are ways to encourage children to eat vegetables?

1. When a baby reaches 6 months of age, green, leafy and yellow vegetables may be given already. 2. Vegetables that are mashed, strained, chopped or cut into tiny pieces should be added to the babys complimentary food. 3. Parents or caregivers must set the good example for children by eating vegetables themselves. 4. Make sure that vegetables are always part of the family meals. They must be easy to eat and taste good. 5. Offer a new vegetable at the beginning of the meal when small children are the hungriest. 6. Make vegetables more appealing and exciting by cutting them in different shapes. Field Study 3 Technology in the Learning Environment Page 36

7. Mix vegetables with other foods that children like to eat. 10. Use a little fat, sugar and iodized salt to make vegetables dishes taste good to children. 11. Involve children in preparing vegetable dishes. Children can help in selecting and buying vegetables. 12. Include vegetables in your childs baon or snack in school. Add lettuce, tomato or cabbage in your childs sandwiches. You may also include cut-up vegetables as snack like slices of carrots. 13. Prepare new vegetable dishes or prepare them in different ways. Encourage children to sample or take a bite. Just keep serving the vegetable dish in different shapes and ways until they develop a liking for it. 14. Do not force children to eat vegetables. 15. When all else fails, hide the vegetables in the dish. Shred or blend the vegetable in other dishes such as soups and sauces or even use it as added ingredients to burgers, lumpia, and even desserts like yema, leche flan and halaya. Be creative. 16. Grow a family kitchen garden and involve children in gardening.
