WhatwasespeciallyuniqueaboutMrs.Immelwashowsheincludedspecialneedsstudentsintothe generaleducationactivities.Mrs.Immelworkedhardtohelpthesestudentsbeinvolvedinthewhole groupactivitiesandthesespecialneedsstudentsweregivenmanyopportunitiestoshineinthegeneral educationenvironment.Theybelonged.Theparentsofchildreninherclassroomwouldattestthat Mrs.Immelprovidedmanyopportunitiesforallstudentsinherclassroomopportunitiesthatmayhave beenmodifiedtoaccommodateindividualstudentneeds,butneverthelessallowedeachchildtobe successful. Inadditiontoprovidingwonderfulopportunitiesforherfirstgraders,Mrs.Immelalsohadapositive impactforthegradelevelandschool.Forexample,Mrs.Immeldevelopedawebpageforfirstgrade classroomuse.Itwaskidfriendlyandwidelyusedbyfamiliesoffirstgradersinallfirstgrade classrooms.ShealsocreatedboththeBacktoSchoolNightPowerPointforthefirstgradeteamandthe teamsweeklynewsletters.Schoolwide,sheusedhertechskillstogenerateaPowerPointshowcasing studentsfamilymemberswhohadbeenveteransaspartofaneventhonoringveteransatOregon ElementarySchoolopentothepublic.
