Title: Ancient Jewel Author: T. R. (Joe) Sundarm

1. The main purpose of this article is to inform people about the different things from India that were influenced by Europeans. 2. The key question the author is addressing is: Why is India considered the Jewel of the world? 3. The most important information in this article is that India was considered the Jewel of the world. This was due to the fact that India had well developed cities with many houses, wells, bathrooms, and an elaborate drainage system. The Greeks got the Pythagorean Theorem from the Indians. They also contributed ideas about math and science like the concept of absolute zero. 4. The main inferences/conclusions in this article are that a lot of the Europeans ideas actually came from India. 5. The key concept we need to understand in this article is that India was far ahead of the rest of the world in developing things and ideas. 6. The main assumption underlying the authors thinking is that we know what the Pythagorean Theorem is. 7. If we take this line of reasoning seriously, the implications are that a lot of the ideas we use today originated in India and ended up in Europe later where they tweaked them to be what we have today.
