LITERATURE REVIEW

The aim of this project is to improve the machine operation in Malaysia Industry and also in medical facilities. In this project, the technology that we used is Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) Technology. DTMF signalling is used for telecommunication signalling over analog telephone lines in the voice frequency band between telephone handsets and other communications device and the switching centre. The underlying principle mainly relies up on the ability of DTMF (Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency) Technology to acts as a remote for controlling the land-rover to move. It will generate DTMF corresponding to a number or code in the number pad and then detect the same number or code from its corresponding DTMF (Table 2.0). In detail, a DTMF generator will generates two frequencies corresponding to a number or code in the number pad which will be transmitted through the communication networks, constituting the transmitter section which is simply equivalent to a mobile set. For my project, the microcontroller is pre-programmed to take a decision for any given input and outputs its decision to motor drivers in order to drive the motors forward, backward motion or a turn. The Microcontroller acts as a brain of my project because the code will give the action to the motor to move it. For this project, it can be use two method with or without using microcontroller software. The second method which is without using the Microcontroller Interfacing software, the microcontroller is replace with the equivalent logic circuit that act as a decoder to convert the binary to perform the action of the landrover. When using this second method, it will be a problem in excessive current division due to the overloaded logic. So the chosen of using the microcontroller is the best solution to avoid this entire problem from happening in constructing this project. These both methods operate in same way which is drawback the limited working range, limited range and limited control. The diagram that shown below proved the different flow of both methods:

INTRODUCTION: THE robot, integrated with a mobile phone, forms the crux of this project. This integrated architeture is controlled by a

supplementary mobile phone, which initiates the call. Once the

call is associated, any button pressed corresponds to a unique tone at the other end. The tone is termed as Dual Tone Multiple Frequency (DTMF ) , which is perceived by the robot with the help of a cellular phone stacked in it. The received tone is fed into the DTMF decoder (CM8870), which decodes the DTMF tone into its equivalent binary. Binary output from the decoder is consequently administered by the microcontroller (P89V51RD2). 89V51RD2 is pre- programmed to take necessary decisions corresponding to the given set of binary inputs. Output from P89V51RD2 is provided to the drivers L293D and ULN2003. The former of which acts as a regulator to drive the

DC motor while; the latter can be provided to drive the electrical

appliances. Cellular phone generating the call acts as a remote control obviating the need for construction of superfluous receiver and transmitter units and thus can be used for tele-control of electronic appliances. WORKING : As shown in the above block diagram, the first block is the cell phone. So, it acts as any DTMF generator with tone depending upon key pressed. DTMF decoder IC ,i.e., MT8870 decodes the received tones & gives binary equivalent of it to the microcontroller. The Microcontroller is programmed such that appropriate output given to the the two

DC Motors connected to it. The concept used for driving is Differential Driver. So ultimately the motors rotate according to the key pressed on the keypad of the cell phone.
In order to control the robot, you have to make a call to the cellphone attached to the robot from any phone. now the phone is picked by the phone on the robot through autoanswer mode(which is in the phn, just enable it). now when you press 2 the robot will move forward when you press 4 the robot will move left when you press 8 the robot will move backwards when you press 6 the robot will move right when you press 5 the robot will stop.

Abstract : Dual-tone Multi-frequency (DTMF) signals are used in touch-tone telephones as well as many other areas such as interactive control, telephone banking, and pager system. As analog telephone lines are converted to digital, researchers became interested in digital DTMF detectors. There are many digital DTMF detecting algorithms, but most of them do not comply with the related International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and Bellcore recommendations or are not suitable for real-time implementation. In this project, my primary aim was to implement the new DTMF algorithm proposed by M. D. Felder, J. M. Mason, and B. L. Evans on a TMS320C50 digital signal processor for 24 channels. Despite the fact that current C50 targets generate code for TI TMS320C50 DSP Starter Kit (DSK), the new target generates code for TI TMS320C50 Evaluation Module (EVM). At the time this report was written all the tasks of the new target except getting the results from the simulator part, were finished. Additional work was needed to modify some C50 stars because they were written for DSK only.
