Kami Upton DDR #4 Matthew 13:54-58 In this scripture Jesus goes to his hometown and teaches in the synagogue

to the people that probably knew him growing up. The people were amazed at all the things that he knew and was teaching about. They did not believe that he had the authority to teach and preach in the synagogue because they knew who his parents, brothers, and sisters were. The people believed that Jesus should be working as a carpenter with Joseph and his brothers in the family business. The people judged him by who he was related to. The same thing happens often in education. Im the oldest child in my family, and I went through school with all As and Bs. I was also actively involved in choir, and I was in all advanced classes. I left a reputation at each campus at Hallsville. All the teachers and principals knew who I was. As my brother went through school the teachers and principals expected him to be able to achieve high grades and be actively involved in school activities like I did. They expected him to be in all advanced classes as well. Even when I graduated last May some of the professors that met him asked him when they would be expecting him at ETBU when they found out he was my brother. He had a hard time in school because he felt like he had to live up to my legacy I guess you could say. He was capable of making high grades, but he did not want to be just like me. I believe he chose not to be in advanced classes just because of this fact and because I had been in those classes. We are two different people, and it was hard for our teachers to realize that because we are related. The same thing happened with my friends that had older siblings. Everybody is different. Different people have different interests and aspirations, and I

believe its hard for educators to remember that sometimes, especially with students and their siblings.
