SCORING A. Only the serving team can score points B. Game is played to 11 points: win by one.

DOUBLES PLAY A. Each partner has a turn of service before side out is called, except for the first service. B. The player serving continues to serve, alternating serving courts for each serve until his/her side loses the rally. LET SERVE A. This occurs when the bird hits the net and lands in the correct service court. Or if the bird lands in the correct service court but the receiving team was not ready. A let serve results in a re-serve. RULES OF PLAY A. A bird landing on the line is good. B. If a player, attempting to serve, misses the bird completely may re-serve. C. The serve must be underhand; contacted below the waist. The head of the racquet must be below the serving hand. D. The server may not step while serving. E. A player may not reach over the net to contact the bird. F. The bird may not rest on the racquet during the execution of a stroke. This is called a carry. WINNING STRATEGY A. Hit the bird at the highest point possible. B. Keep your opponent moving with a variety of shots. C. After every shot, return to center court. D. If in trouble, use a high deep clear shot to regain position. E. In doubles, the net player should take a position around the short service line. THE STROKES A. THE CLEAR SHOT- may be hit forehand, backhand or round the head. The bird should travel upward and forward in a high arc and drop near the back line. B. THE SMASHforehand or backhand. Sometimes known as the kill shot. Should be hit as high as possible and the bird should travel downward very fast into an unprotected area of your opponents court. C. DROP SHOTwhen executed properly, this shot causes the bird to drop very close to the net. Can be hit overhand or underhand. D. THE DRIVEthis shot is a flat stroke where the bird travels almost parallel to the floor. When executed properly, it passes very quickly over and very near the net.
