Asal Mula Danau Toba

Pada zaman dahulu di sebuah perkampungan di wilayah Tapanuli utara, ada seorang petani miskin yang ingin merasakan nikmatnya ikan. Kemudian, ia pergi memancing. Ia sangat terkejut saat mendapatkan ikan ajaib yang dapat berbicara. Ikan itu memohon kepada si petani agar tidak membunuhnya. Lalu si petani meletakkan ikan itu di sawahnya, lalu pulang ke rumahnya. Esok paginya saat ia ke sawah, ia bertemu dengan seorang putri. Ternyata, ikan di sawahnya telah berubah menjadi seorang putri. Putri itu memohon kepada si petani untuk dijadikan istri. Namun, ada syarat yang harus dipenuhi oleh si petani. Jika kelak mereka mempunyai anak, si petani tidak boleh mengatakan anak mereka adalah anak ikan. Waktu pun berlalu. Kini mereka mempunyai seorang anak laki-laki. Pada suatu hari si putri meminta anaknya mengantarkan makanan kepada ayahnya di sawah. Saat dalam perjalanan ia terjatuh, lalu semua makanannya tertumpah, melihat itu ayahnya menjadi marah. Tanpa sadar ia mengatakan anaknya sebagai anak ikan. Anak itu menangis dan mengadu kepada ibunya. Sang putri mendengar pengaduan anaknya, lalu meminta anaknya pergi ke puncak bukit. Saat suaminya pulang, ia menyambutnya dengan marah. Ia pun pamit pergi meninggalkan sang suami. Saat tubuh putri itu lenyap, tiba-tiba datanglah banjir besar melanda rumah itu, makin lama airnya makin banyak. Akhirnya, membentuk sebuah danau. Kemudian, orang menyebutnya sebagai Danau Toba.

Origin of Lake Toba


In ancient times in a village in northern Tapanuli area, there is a poor

farmer who wants to feel the pleasure of fishing. Then, he went fishing. He was very surprised to get themagical fish that can speak. The fish was appealed

to the farmers not to kill him. Thenthe farmer put the fish in rice fields, and went home. The next morning when he went to the fields, he met princess. Apparently, fish in rice fields has been transformed into a princess. The Princess begged the farmer to be his wife. However, there are requirements that must be met by the farmer. If they have children later, the farmer should not be told their child is a child fish. Time passed. Now they have a boy. One day the princess asked his son to deliver foodto his father in the fields. When the way he fell, then all the food has been spilled, sawthat his father became angry. Unconsciously she told her son as

a child fish. The child was crying and complained to his mother. The princess heard her complaint, then asked his son to go to the top of the hill. Whenher husband came home, he was greeted with anger. He excused himself to leave her husband. When the princess's body was gone, suddenly there came a big flood that hithome, more and more water. Finally, forming a lake. Later, people called the Lake Toba.
