Summary

The story begins in the midst of a huge storm on a ship, where we meet most tof the main characters: Antonio, Alanso, Gonzalo, and Sebastian. These characters, along with minor characters, abandon ship and become refugees on an island where they are separated into groups; these groups consider the others dead. Apart from these characters, we meet four more main characters: Prospero, his daughter Miranda, and his slaves Ariel and Caliban, also on the island. It is with them it is learned that Prospero, a magician of sorts, brought the shipwrecked characters to the island for his own purposes. On a separate part of the island we meet two more characters: Trinculo and Stephano. They are drunken men when they meet Caliban, sent by Prospero to gather firewood. The three proceed to further drink and begin to plot the takeover of the island. When Caliban tells the other two of Prospero and Miranda, the plot begins to murder
