045 X+ 53 pages + 9 Tabels + 3 Charts + 7 Attachments FACTORS RELATED TO THE OCCURRENCE OF HYPERTENSION ON ELDERLY (45-59 AGE) IN COMUNITY HEALTH CENTER OF BATUJAJAR 2013 ABSTRACT Background : Hypertension is a medical condition when a person experiences an increase in blood pressure above normal or chronic. since the last ten years, hypertension disease attacked many people, especially those aged over 40 years. Based on the results of preliminary studies on the prevalence to get pre elderly patients with hypertension at 45-59 in the regions of public health center of Batujajar obtained work as much as 895 cases. Purpose : To identify factors associated with incident hypertension in the elderly in the public health center of Batujajar. Method : The research method with case-control approach, with sample pre elderly visitors in public health center of Batujajar. The total sample as much as 68 samples, consisting of 34 cases and 34 control samples. Sampling techniques are accidental sampling. Data obtained by interview using a questionnaire and statistical analysis using chi-squere. Result : Statistical tests showed that family history (OR = 9.257), lack of exercise (OR = 5.760), smoking (OR = 3.429). Conclusion and Suggestion: Based on the results of the study, the risk factor is a family history of hypertension, exercise, and smoking. The need to increase health promotion program to increase knowledge and awareness of hypertension that Patients hypertension can manage a healthy life patterns.
