How to make a Weebly website. Show Andres Velezs weebly as an example: http://andygato.weebly.com/index.html Go to http:// www.weebly.com/ 1.

Have students create an account. A few pointers: Have students write full name (first & last for sign in). Some students like to use something else and then forget it. DO NOT let students sign up with Facebook. If they do, they wont be able to access their weebly at school where Facebook is blocked. Insist that students give you their password. Many students forgot their user names and passwords last year which causes a huge problem.

Have students choose a theme. There are gazillions of them. I would have them just choose one quickly, because its easy to change later. **Super important. Put the name of your site in Use a Subdomain of Weebly.com For security reasons, we dont want students last names on their portfolios. I suggest using first name and last initial. Like this: susanss portfolio. The green check lets you know the name is not already taken. If a red X shows you need to change the name. You need to send all of the portfolio names, user names, and passwords to me so I can assemble an excel document with all the middle school numbers. Watch short video that pops up. Click page tab at top of page and create pages. For each page: Click Add Page + button Choose Standard Page or Blog Page. Type in page name. Choose which type of header you like. You may drag pages up and down to reorder and right to left to create pages and subpages. Create as many pages as you would like and then hit save & edit. When you do this it takes you to the main page or the page you just added. Students should create: 1 blog page A main page for each subject (give main pages generic names like science or social studies) Grade level subpages for students current grade and at least the next two grades. **Some students thought they could create a blog page on a regular page, but they need to select blog page so we can subscribe to their blog pages to see assignments. Nothing will show up on the Internet until you hit the Publish button which is in the top right corner of every page.

Note that my website does not yet have a name. I can simply click on the text, and type in the site name. I can even add a tag line by clicking on add text. Dont forget to hit Publish!

If I mouse over the image, I can choose to edit the image. I can upload a new photograph, add text, or add some special effects. I can make these changes go on every page or just some pages depending on the save option that I choose. When you publish, the page on the left shows up. Just X it out. Your changes have been made and weebly is just trying to sell you a more exclusive address.

Teach students to click on the question mark, and then support center to come up with answers to their questions. There are many ways to add documents and links to your Weebly. One of the neatest ways to do it is by dragging and dropping a button on to your page. Then click on Button Text and name your document. Scroll down and you will find the grey button box. Click on link. You will be given a choice whether to link to a website or to a document. Then save and publish and youve got it. For security purposes, do not have students upload documents that have their last name.
