Tina Le ELED 300 What I feel that are the most important elements throughout chapters 1, 2, and 3 is good

teaching, diversity, and classroom management. These subjects correspond very well to the competencies. Throughout these chapters I have learned numerous facts. I would like to take these elements with me and implement them into my work on how to become a better teacher. Good teaching is the central role of good research in informing teaching practice. To provide our students with the information and tools to be a successful learner. Using the pedagogical content knowledge teaches you how to represent information in ways that the learner will understand. For example, in math class there are multiple ways to show how to solve a subtraction problem. This way student can pick which method works best for them. In competency 1 it stated, The teacher understands human developmental processes and applies this knowledge to plan instruction and ongoing assessment that motivate students and are responsive to their developmental characteristics and needs. I feel that it fits right into the pedagogical content knowledge. Teaching strategy is an interconnected set of teaching actions designed to accomplish specific goals. In competency 10 it stated, The teacher monitors students performance and achievement; provides students with timely, highquality feedback; and responds flexibly to promote learning for all students. I have found out that giving students time to think about a question increases the quality of both their immediate responses and their long-terms achievements. Researchers have found that defining an idea provides a frame of reference for the rest of the lesson, then illustrate the concepts, give it meaning, and think of questions that involves students in the learning process. Culture is the attitude, values, beliefs, and ways of acting and interacting that characterize a social group. Over the years the different cultural background of our students have increased. There are

over 14 million people immigrated to the United States during 1980s and 1990s. Children of color has become the majority of public school enrollments. Competency 2 stated, The teacher understand students diversity and knows how to plan learning experiences and design assessments that are responsive to differences among students and that promote all students learning. Multicultural education are ways culture influences learning and attempts to find ways to complement and enhance learning. Classroom management consists of all the teacher thoughts, plans, and actions that create a productive learning environment. There are two goals when creating a productive learning environment. The first goal is to maximize learning, second is to develop in students the ability to manage and direct their own learning. Competency 5 and 6 has to do with classroom management dealing with creating an organized, productive, physical and emotional learning environment. Classroom rules are descriptions of standards for acceptable students behavior. Competency 7 states, The teacher understands and applies principles and strategies for communicating effectively in varied teaching and learning contexts. Research confirms the value of rules such as these, reasonable rules, clearly explained and fairly and consistently enforced. All the elements I have talked about are very important information I will take with me throughout my teaching career. The competencies will remind me of all rules, facts and knowledge that I retain through these courses. I will enforce the pedagogy and professional responsibilities in my entire classroom.
