TOPIC: THINGS TO REMEMBER FOR AN H-MOLE PATIENT RATIONALE: To provide information to the patient and significant others regarding the things to remember like sex, activity, nutrition and work. OBJECTIVES: GENERAL: After the health teaching, the patient and the significant others will be able to understand the points of what to do regarding sex, activity, nutrition and work. SPECIFIC: After the health teaching the patient and the significant others will be able to: 1. Gain sufficient knowledge regarding sex, activity, nutrition, and work 2. Demonstrate active participation and motivation throughout the health teaching 3. Share their insights, reactions, and clarifications regarding the health teaching HEALTH TEACHING METHOD: Interactive discussion TARGET AUDIENCE: Patient and significant other CONTENT: Sexual Activity Pelvic rest is recommended for 4-6 weeks after evacuation of the uterus and the patient is instructed not to become pregnant for twelve months. Adequate contraception is recommended during this time period. o Serial Beta hCG values will be followed to identify the rare patient who develops malignant disease. Should a pregnancy occur, the elevation in Beta hCG would be confused with development of malignant disease Activity o Take it easy. Avoid strenuous activity and get plenty of rest for 2 days after you had your D&C (dilatation and curettage) as directed by your doctor. o Dont drive for 24 hours after the procedure. o Nutrition o Eat a normal diet Work o o Return to your normal activities after 48 hours. You may also return to work at that time. o

EVALUATION: After the health teaching, the patient and the significant others was able to understand the points of what to do regarding sex, activity, nutrition and work. Specifically, they were able to gain sufficient knowledge, demonstrate active participation and motivation throughout the health teaching and share their insights, reactions, and clarifications regarding the health teaching.
