Introduction

Types of gears

Spur Helical Bevel Worm

Advantage of helical gear

Selection of Project

Mostly in industries, computer approach is more preferable for design calculations. Our future aim.

Information of Hoisting Crane

Mechanical classes 1. Periodic heavy equipment movement 2. General engineering purpose 3. Steel manufacturing purpose 4. Heavy loaded cranes on port

Line Diagram for Hoisting Crane

Design Steps

For required three input datas 1. Drum diameter selection 2. Motor selection 3. Gearbox ratio

Gear Box Design

Stage selection Reduction diagram

Gear Design

Selection of no. of teeth. Find module from no. of teeth, helix angle torque and reduction in r.p.m. per stage. Check that beam strength should more than effective load.

Shaft & Coupling Design

1.

2.

Shaft diameter calculation. From load diagram and bending moment diagram. Also directly from torque in shear strength Coupling design in shear

Key Selection

Selection of dimension of key Checking of key in shear and compression

Bearing Selection

From Radial load and C/P ratio, find dynamic load carrying capacity. From dynamic load carrying capacity, select the bearing size.

Software Introduction

Software used: VB.net 2005.

Software Run

Conclusion

Its designed only for one input data, from its reference generate one program; from that getting the different output. Hoisting crane gearbox design is easier to calculate with help of software for different capacity, velocity and motor input rpm.
