2013 Kazbegi Sleep Training Summer School

July 18 - July 23, 2013 Kazbegi, Georgia

From Sleep Science to Sleep Medicine

The 2013 Kazbegi Sleep Training Summer School aims to fulll a critically important educational function of promoting basic and clinical sleep research in Georgia and in the entire Caucasus region, ensuring that there will be local groups of highly trained young specialists carrying out basic, clinical and translational sleep research and of physicians practicing Sleep Medicine. The Scientic Program covers a broad range of theoretical perspectives and modern methodological strategies that are required to understand the basic mechanisms responsible for sleep behavior, the multitude of biological activities that occur during this state and the role of healthy sleep in human physical, mental and social well-being. Students will be provided with an opportunity to interact, in an informal manner, with a broad spectrum of established experts in sleep related disciplines. The Workshop also aims to render possibilities for senior sleep specialists worldwide to exchange visions about critical sleep related topics.

This Summer School is funded by FENS-IBRO European Neuroscience School Program and Ilia State University, Tbilisi, Georgia. We are also grateful to Program SCOPES Project IZ74Z0_137415 for their support of the symposium Human Sleep: Norm and Pathology. Special thanks to our secretary, Tamar Basishvili and our excellent technical assistant, Salome Salia. Irma Gvilia
