A Soldiers Dilemma Questions 1.

If Dillon holds his fire, that fact that people in his squad are his friends makes a difference because the woman can be an enemy and endanger the squad members lives. Therefore, if Dillon holds his fire, he takes the chance of risking his friends lives. 2. If Dillon shoots an innocent woman, he has not done anything wrong because he simply took orders from the Sergeant. As a result, Dillon should not be blamed; Sergeant Johnson should be blamed because he was the man who gave orders to Dillon to not take any chances.

3. If Dillon shot an innocent civilian he would not be considered a murderer because he was given orders to shoot any suspicion person so the squad would not be in danger; therefore, Dillons reason for shooting the unknown suspicion was to simply protect the lives of his friends. 4. If Dillon does not shoot the woman who turns out to be a guerilla soldier that kills the soldiers, then Dillon has made a crucial mistake because he did not follow Sergeant Johnsons order, which resulted in the death of the squad members. If Dillon would have shot the woman, then the squad would be perfectly fine; therefore, Dillon would certainly be guilty if he did not shoot the woman. 5. If Dillon does not shoot the woman who turns out to be a guerilla soldier that kills the squad members, then he has committed a crime because his action led to the death of the troops. If Dillon did shoot the woman, then the troop would be safe; therefore Dillon should be considered a murderer. His punishment should be exile from the army or further training so Dillon does not make the same mistake again. 6. The morals of war are integrity and faith. If one follows these morals then he or she will be successful in the army because integrity allows one to be brave and powerful. On the other hand, faith allows one to trust his or her self, resulting in a more wise decision within the army.
