Title: Whats the temperature,how can we plan and what can we do on our vacation? Grade Level: 3rd grade Objectives: By the end of the lesson student will be able to: Understand climate and temperatures in different cities Students will be able to research information on the internet Compile and log information onto a spreadsheet Student will write a vacation plan to each location and activities in that region. Students will answer questions on the activity sheet give to them by the teacher Curriculum Standards: CCSS1.01 Understand the diversity of human cultures. 1.02 Discuss cultures and human patterns of places and regions of the world. 1.03 Recognize the contributions of individuals and people of various ethnic, racial, religious, and socioeconomic groups to the development of civilizations.

Problem Statement: What is the temperature in different cities what types of activities are common during these temperatures.

Description of lesson:

Students will be given several cities to create a spreadsheet to organize a vacation with planned activities during their stay. They will be in charge of knowing the weather so they can know what to bring. They will be researching why weather
temperatures are different around the United States? What types of activities would those cities represented on the chart look like during high, low temperatures and the rainy season. The data represented on this chart will answer some of the question. To find out specific things about each city you may google each cities at http://www.google.com.

Description of the student product: Student will present final product as a completed spreadsheet from information answered on the activity sheet. Student will then submit to teacher for grading as a written paper.
