Transient analysis of a plate applied load at the top mid node of plate and measured response there itself.

1st mode 682 Hz

2nd mode 1649 Hz - Note that the mid point at top of the plate has very little motion - a node !!

3rd mode 4151 Hz Here though the mode seems similar to 1st mode as far as movement of top mid point is concerned, the magnitude is less a plate will be more stiff to bend at higher modes. So intuitively the displacement of top mid node would be less for 3rd mode than 1st mode.

Displacement pattern you can see vibration after release of load also.

Displacement FFT shows only 1st bending mode

When you zoom in displacement FFT, you can vaguely see 3rd bending mode. I am not sure what that 4749 peak could be. It might be an appearance of 4th mode which in my case is 5200 Hz. I am not fully sure. Increasing resolution further would show some way. I would do that later.

Acceleration plot you can see traces of high frequency during free vibration of plate

Now you can see 3rd and 4th mode and a slight trace of 2nd mode. Again I would think increasing the resolution might point us to some way.

In any or most of the structures, the first fundamental mode is always dominant and excites easily in free vibration. So it is quite natural for 682 Hz mode to be dominant than other modes. When you convert acceleration data to displacement you are dividing it by square of frequency. So higher modes get diminished. But they are there. If you see acceleration plot (inertance), you can find them. If you are interested in maximum displacement at a given node, it is always 1st mode which dominates the rest.
