Supreme Court Drama: Cases That Changed America. Daniel E. Brannen, Jr., Richard Clay Hanes, and Rebecca Valentine. Ed. Lawrence W. Baker. 2nd ed. Vol.5: Business and Government Law. Detroit: U*X*L,2011. 1209-1217 Opposing Viewpoints In Context. Web. 10 Sept. 2013 In this article it describes things from when Europeans first met Native Americans to present day. This article also addresses the issues that have occurred from the first meeting to present day. It also explains all the events that are good and bad in the Native American life span. The whole concept of this is to help the Native Americans get the reparations they have long past deserved. The indigenous people suffered a major loss in their economies, lands, and life during the persistent westward push of white settlers. This is one of the major points that shows that the indigenous people deserve better or more restitution for their loss over the past

two centuries or more. The white settlers started to find out about all the natural resources on the reservations that they placed the Native Americans on and greed was a major benefactor for a lot of conflict between the U.S. government and the Native Americans. This article helps me understand what happened to the Native Americans during this time frame. This helps my organization by showing facts on the cause for so many problems today on the reservations. Also the U.S. government gave some things to the Native Americans such as some of the bill of rights in 1968. This was called the Indian Civil Rights Act. This helps me understand that the United States government wasnt just completely greedy and they also gave

2 the Native Americans some things back as reparations for previous inhumane acts. This article is a great source for my organization to show the problems and how the United States government is and was responsible for a cultural decline in the Native American population. This article answers my research question fairly well. This article explains some things that the U.S. government gave back as restitution. This article also helps me understand what I am researching because it helps me see why the government acted this way toward Native Americans. This article will also help me use persuasive text to help my organization. This source will help people see and persuade them to help out the Native Americans and try and get reparations for all that has been lost over this vast period of time.
