Pastelface cockatiels

Origin: Pastelface is the ninth established mutation. The Pastelface originated in the United Kingdom in the aviary of Bob Crossley in the late 1980s Visually this mutation will look like any other mutation, with the exception of a pale peach colored cheek patch. The cocks yellow facial mask will be more of a soft pastel yellow rather than bright yellow. Sometimes this mutations body colored plumage may be slightly paler than its mutation counterpart. Pastelface is sometimes referred to as Dominant Pastelface. Genetically it is a recessive gene, and when a Pastelface is paired with a Whiteface it tends to act dominant over Whiteface. For example, with most recessive color mutations you need both parents to carry the gene. Pastelface is unique because all you need is one (1) parent, of either sex, when paired with a Whiteface, to produce visual Pastelface of either sex. When you have a Pastelface and Whiteface paired together, it is easy to tell what mutation the babies are as they hatch. The ones with very pale yellow down will be Pastelface, and white down will be Whiteface.
