Recognize, Prevent, Care for HIV&AIDS: The Solution of Case Detection Rate Improvement For High School Students

"HIV&AIDS have become the biggest biological threats in the world and in Indonesia as well. Everyday 6.000 people under the age of 25 years are infected by HIV&AIDS. Every hour 40 children died because of AIDS."(Indonesian Business Coalition On AIDS) Tangerang District is one of the regions in Indonesia where the number of HIV&AIDS cases are increased every year. In 2010, there were 35 HIV cases detected and 35 cases of AIDS were detected (Tangerang District Health Profile). The most major trigger for contracting HIV&AIDS is the risk behavior factor. Shortly, if the behavior is not done, automatically the risk is also practically reduced. This program aims to improve the Case Detection Rate of HIV&AIDS, because the national data shows that the HIV prevalence rate is 5.6/100,000 population. There are two interpretations that can be drawn from these data. First, it might be true that our HIV prevalence rate is 5.6/100,000 population or the latter that the people infected by HIV have not been detected well. Therefore, an increasing number of HIV case detection becomes very important in order to reduce the impact of HIV. Based on data of HIV&AIDS Cases Statistics, in the period of 2012 the biggest HIV&AIDS case in Indonesia is in the range of age 20-29 years, namely 15.093 people. According to the researchers, if the highest incidence is in the range of age 20-29 years, so the appropriate intervention should be done in groups beneath the age of 15-19 years since the incubation period of the virus to be HIV positive take up to 5 years. To prevent that, the researchers propose that the program contains three activities namely VCT++, VCT online, and Clinical Reference in State Senior High Schools, State Vocational High School, and State Madrasah in Tangerang District.
