Late ring: stippling (Ziemann) seldom seen (no diagnostic value), pigment might be seen

Infected erythrocytes normal size Late trophozoite: band form cytoplasm Stippling: Ziemanns dots, never seen 8-12 merozoits in schizont, rosette form Gametocytes resemble those of P. vivax, only normal size erythrocytes
