You clearly defined each term for students and then had ways for them to actively practice that skill (matching pairs for synonyms/antonyms and identifying analogies from a poem and teacher-generated sentences). Your activities gave students chances to learn the skills through different modalities. Your processing comments/questions supported student thinking and consistently reinforced their understanding of key terms. Some ideas for future growth would include having visual examples of the key terms: providing chances to write ideas first before having to share them orally; assigning learning partners; connecting synonym/antonym concepts to word analogies (it would show how words are related)
