    How to create a bootable USB key to re-image a DSSRV.

    Cause Lost USB Create USB Recovery

    Resolution Create a bootable USB Recovery Key for the DSSRV Note: The below procedure must be performed on a Windows 7 system and works for both JBOD and RAID DSSRV's. 1. Download the DS 7.4.363 USB Recovery image. 2. Extract the compressed folder. 3. Perform the following steps to create, format, and prepare a USB key. 1. Click on START > Search Bar and type in CMD and click ENTER. 2. Type diskpart, and then click Enter. 3. Type list disk, and then click Enter. 4. Type select disk and the drive number (for example, select disk 2 ), and then click Enter. 5. Type clean, and then click Enter. 6. Type create partition primary, and then click Enter. 7. Type active, and then click Enter. 8. Type format fs=fat32 quick, and then click Enter. 9. Wait for the drive to complete formatting. This may take several minutes. 10. When formatting is complete, type assign, and then click Enter. 11. Type exit, and then click Enter to close the command window 4. Open the drive that was assigned in step 10 5. Open the folder that was created after you extracted the DS 7.x Full Recovery.zip. 6. Copy all the files and folders and paste them into the USB key. You can also select all the files and folders, and then drag and drop them into the USB key. 7. Once the files have copied over, remove the USB key. 8. You can now re-image the DS NVR with the USB key.

    NOTE: The RAID controller card does not support Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) booting. Perform the following steps if you receive a UEFI message: 1. 2. 3. 4. Restart the system. Enter the BIOS by pressing the Delete key repeatedly while the system is starting up Modify the boot order in your BIOS so that you boot to a non-UEFI USB device to manage RAID. The computer will restart and you can press any key to continue with the setup.
