First Day of Kindergarten

Everyone has a first day When they feel sad and all alone It can be scary when you are on your own And I know that a first day Can be full of doubts and fears But they are full of new beginnings Take my hankie, dry your tears You'll find lots of things to do And you'll probably make new friends I promise we'll be together When the school day ends Here comes the teacher Blow your nose and be brave Come on now and wipe your eyes This is no way to behave Well, Good Morning, Teacher We really do beg your pardon No, Mommy doesn't always act this way But it's my first day of Kindergarten!

September 2012

Dearest Kindergarten Parents,

We would like to welcome your child to Kindergarten! Inshallah, it will be a year that will be filled with excitement, learning, exploring and creation. Kindergarten is a time of new beginnings, of making friends, and of learning lots of new things each and every day. Our days and weeks will be filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing.

We will learn all about letters and sounds, and will be doing lots of writing activities, too. We will also be learning all about numbers, building on important math concepts including sorting, counting, classifying, patterns and time. The children are always proud of the work they create and are anxious to share their new skills. Families can help at home by reading to and with their child daily, and encouraging them to write and draw. Young children learn as they play and their play is their work. Research has proven this so. In this context, your child will be learning all of the time this year as he or she joins in the tasks ahead.

Thank you for entrusting your child to us for the coming school year. I will do my very best every day to be your child's guide in learning and exploring this bright, new world they've just stepped into.

Sincerely,

GET Involved Volunteers NEEDED!
